She was the daughter of R.H. and Mae Tullos Hanner, both of pioneer Texas stock. Born on the family place in Polk County, she was one of 11 children. She married Julius Conrad Tips III of Houston in 1935 and was the mother of four. She is survived by her son Conrad, son Gene and his wife Jewel, son Carl and his wife Gaylen, and daughter Julie and her husband Ronald Dokell; her grandchildren Ron and wife Kara, Jason and wife Kristen, Carl and wife Amanda, Corey and wife Karen; great grandchildren are Mattison, Bailey, Tristan, Levi, and Sophia; and her sister and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Behrman and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Tips was active in the Garden Oaks Elementary School PTA and St. Michael's, St. Andrew's and St. Christopher's Altar Guilds for many years.
