Bio

Alfred Robson and Vinus Fuller married in 1910. They adopted a daughter, Evelyn, circa 1924. Her obituary follows. Evelyn M. Egdorf Monday, March 13, 2006 Evelyn M. Egdorf, 82, of Hinton, died Friday, March 10, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars. Evelyn Margaret Egdorf was born Feb. 15, 1924, at Broken Bow, Neb. As an infant, she was adopted by Alfred and Vinus (Fuller) Robson. Her parents raised her in the Thayer, Neb., area where she graduated from high school. Evelyn also attended 26 weeks of college prior to the onset of World War II. On July 22, 1945, Evelyn and Raymond F. Egdorf were united in marriage at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa. The couple made their home in Columbus, Neb., and Paullina, before moving to Hinton in 1967. For 16 years, Evelyn worked as a nurses' aid at St. Joseph's Hospital in Sioux City. Raymond died Sept. 1, 1998. Evelyn remained in Hinton until moving to the Good Samaritan Village (Brentwood) on Oct. 31, 2001. Evelyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton. She was also a member of the Casper Post #477 of American Legion Auxiliary in Hinton. Evelyn enjoyed feeding and watching birds, reading, arts and crafts, drawing, knitting, camping and fishing, and playing games. Survivors include her sons, Carroll and his wife, Karen of Sioux City, and Daniel and his wife, Margaret of Round Lake, Minn.; five grandchildren, Shayne, Shawn, Perry, Rusty and Jeff; 10 great-grandchildren, Mitch, Brandon, Jestin, Briesha, Bradee, Lexi, Keygan, Joey, Beau, and Charles; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond; two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. The Rev. David Kottlowski of Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton, will officiate. Burial will take place at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, Iowa following a time of lunch and fellowship at the Mauer - Johnson Family Gathering Room. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
