Services for Raymond J Hill, 80, Tyler, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Mayfield and the Rev. David Rice officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. in Cypress Cemetery, Winnsboro, under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors, Tyler. Mr. Hill died Jan. 9, 2008, in Tyler. He was born Sept. 24, 1927, in Cypress community of Franklin County to the late Hubert S. Hill and Savelia Moore Hill. A Tyler resident since 1954 Mr. Hill retired after 34 years from LaGloria Refinery. He served as secretary of McMurrey Federal Union for many years and was a deacon at Trinity Baptist Church, where he was a teacher. He traveled throughout the United States with Builders for Christ helping build churches. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Alice Bolin, Lillian Newsom and Sybil Dodgen; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Lorena Foster. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mable Foster Hill, Tyler; daughter, Linda Lane, Tyler; son, John Hill, Azle; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers will be Arvil Pickett, Jim Rice, Charles Leggette, Tom Fain, Sidney Newsom, Paul Newsom, Alvin Newsom, Clayton Downing, David Dodgen, David Marshal and Randy Marshall. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Baber, Aubrey Dean Chitsey, Clyde Kelley, Jimmy Hutchins, and the Adult II Men's Sunday School Class members. If desired, memorials may be made to Buckner International, 600 N. Pearl St., Dallas, 75201. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
