Son of James Butler and Lucy Watters Wright. Husband of Margaret M. Rayburn, married June 20, 1844 Panola Co. MS. City of Wrightsboro named after him. Gonzales Inquirer Jan.30, 1902 Destroyed By Fire-Resident of Jack Wright at Wrightsboro Destroyed This Mornin A phone message from Wrightsboro this morning states that the residence of Mr. Jack Wright, an old and well known citizen of the county , was destroyed this morning by fire at 5 o'clock. The house caught from the fire place. The house was also occupied by his son-in-law A. G. Henry, who has a number of children, and the family barely made their escape from the burning building. The Inquirer understands the family has lost everything and is left Ina critical condition. Obituary Gonzales Inquirer May 25, 1905 Mr. M. L. Wright, better known as Jack Wright, died on Wednesday evening at his home in Wrightsboro, after a protracted illness. He was 85 years of age, and had been a resident of Gonzales county for half a century. The town of Wrightsboro was named for him. He was well and favorable known over the county, having at one time served as county commissioner from his precinct. He leaves several children in different portions of the state (among whom is Mr. M. B. Wright, sheriff of Nueces county) and other relatives in this county. His remains were laid to rest on Thursday in the cemetery at Wrightsboro in the presence of a large concourse of relatives and friends.
