Rubie Louene (Garris-Sharp) Wheeler of Eugene died Jan. 28 2005 of age-related causes, most likely sepsis from untreated, neglected debuctibus at Eugene nursing home. Though it was documented as pneumonia, she had a large, blackened ulcer on her lower back; mostly died of sepsis. She was 89. At her request, no service is planned. Rubie was born Feb. 20, 1915, in Sargent, Nebraska to Frank and Lola (Williams) Garris both are buried at West Union Cemetery. She married Maurice Sharp in Taylor, Neb., in 1935; they divorced in the 1960's. She married Earl Wheeler on Sept. 8, 1968, in Reno. He died in 1997 from symptoms caused by dementia. She graduated from Blue Mound School in Custer County, Nebraska, and from a young teen she worked as a nanny for many families in Nebraska. She lived in Taylor, Neb., from 1935 to 1939, and in Lake Arrowhead, Calif., until 1946. The family then lived in Springfield, Oregon moved to Junction City Oregon after marrying in 1968 and had lived in Eugene since 1997. She owned a private plant and tree nursery in Junction City, Oregon from the 1970s to the 1990s and also had been a homemaker and a grocery clerk. Rubie enjoyed ballroom and square dancing, raising dogs, fishing, gardening, ceramics and other arts and crafts. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, travel, games, hunting and rockhounding. Survivors include son Robert (Nancy), an ex-daughter in law Gloria Sharp-Godfrey (deceased), daughter Carol (Bob), both of Oregon; a daughter Doris Sharp-Barton-Pedri of Oregon passed 07/23/2018. from nursing home neglect, ulcer to the bone; two stepsons, Lynn Wheeler (deceased) and Mark Wheeler, both of Oregon; two brothers, Lee (Maggie) of Colorado (he is deceased 12/29/2005) and Ed (Eileen) of Wyoming, both deceased he on 08/09/2011; a sister, Arlene Stone deceased 05/10/2015 (Everett deceased), also of Wyoming, formerly of Brighton, Colorado; and a sister Lucile, (deceased), 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren. I miss her every single day.
