Obituary to be continued. MAN STRICKEN AT WORK DIES Ernest W. Spike, 53, died at a hospital shortly after noon Tuesday. He reportedly became ill at the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Co. , 1500 Fourth Street where he was employed. Mr. Spiek (Spike) was born August 17, 1904, at Wayne, Neb. He married Elsie Romstay September 21, 1925. They lived at Belden, Neb., and in the Laurel-Wayne vicinity before coming to Sioux City in 1945. Mr. Spike had been employed by Allis-Chalmers since that time. He was a member of aerie 77, F. O. E., and the First Lutheran Church. Survivors include the widow; a son Clyde E. of Sioux City; a daughter, Mrs. Norma Jean Pitham of Valentine, Neb.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Walter of Primrose, Neb., and Lloyd of Laurel; four sisters, Mrs. LaVerne Kent and Mrs. Otto Rodgers both of Sioux City, Mrs. Joseph Karnes of Laurel and Mrs. Henry Lahrs of Allen, Neb., and his mother, Mrs. Anna Spike of Sioux City. The body was taken to the Manning-O'Toole funeral home. Sioux City Journal Wednesday, May 14, 1958 Sioux City, Iowa -------------------------------- Funeral services for Ernest W. Spike, 53, who died at a hospital shortly after noon, Tuesday, after he became ill at the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Co. 1500 Fourth street, where he was employed, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church. Rev P. E. Van Tassel will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial park cemetery under direction of the Manning-O'Toole funeral home. Pallbearers will be Noel, Harry and Elmer Kent, Harold Siechta, J. Henry Jensen and Voss Sunclades. Mr. Spiek (Spike) was born August 17, 1904, at Wayne, Neb.
