Joida "Jo" Whitten June 25, 1929 ~ November 11, 2012 Joida Whitten passed away November 11, 2012 in Dallas, Texas. She was born June 25, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri to parents, R.E.L. Whitten, Sr. and Catherine Peterman Whitten, both of whom preceded her in death. Graduate of Highland Park High School and SMU. Past member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Alpha Delta Kappa, N.S.D.A.R. and Lady Day Reviewers Book Club. Taught in D.I.S.D. for 21 years, 19 of those at Walnut Hill Elementary. Abstracted and published two books of colonial records of Bedford Co., Va. and contributed articles and data to various genealogical publications. Jo loved life, laughter and people, was a rescuer of animals and an accomplished artist. She had the heart of an angel and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Survived by her brother, R.E.L. (Bob) Whitten, Jr, nieces, several cousins and many friends, including the very special group from the Finley Ewing Fitness Center. Service will be held December 1, 2012 at Restland Wildwood Chapel...RFH Published by Dallas Morning News on Nov. 30, 2012.
