The funeral for Evelyn F. Cox, 88, of Elkmont will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Spry Funeral Home with Jimmy Cox and Kevin Ward officiating. Burial will be in Evans Cemetery. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Cox died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Athens Rehab & SeniorCare. Evelyn Cox was a member of Lebanon Community Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Royce Cox; parents, Denson and Alice Freeman; daughter, Donna Jean Cox; and brother, Lawrence Freeman. Survivors include her sons, Norman Cox of Athens, Jimmy Cox of Anderson and Billy Cox of Lester; daughters, Paulette Poss of Ponce de Leon, Fla., Barbara Fitch of Gurley, Margaret Hardaway and Debra Faye Robertson, both of Athens; sisters, Lucille Craig and Genell Terry, both of Athens; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cox, Billy Cox, Lawrence Hardaway, Mark Robertson, John Fulda and Scotty Hardaway. Grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.
