Bio
Family and Friends of Mary Slate Hulon, 85 of Terrell, know her prayers have been answered. She is safe and secure in the arms of her Savior Jesus. Mary was baptized earlier in life but as a young adult she made a life changing decision putting her faith in Jesus alone for her salvation. She was born to Jesse and Mary Jane Slate in a farm house near McKinney and educated nearby. At the age of 16 she married her teenage sweetheart, Tom Mitchell Hulon Jr., on August 27, 1946 and they proudly talked about spending their honeymoon picking cotton. They continued most of their career working together at the Candy Kitchen in McKinney, Hulon's Auto Supply, Hulon's Mobil Distributors to Hulon's Sales & Service in Terrell, which they sold and retired due to Tom's health and Mary being his outstanding caregiver. She also worked at Montags, Brookshire's & JC Penney's. She loved and was a long time active member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Terrell. After her Lord Jesus, Mary's Greatest love was her family. Her husband Tom preceded her to heaven on February 2, 1986. She was also preceded by her parents and brothers: V A (Dora) Slate, J Ezra Slate, Lonnie (Minnie) Slate, and Clarence (Naomi) Dawson; sisters, Jessie (J W) Love, Madeline (Halbert) Blurton. Terrell, Texas 75160. Funeral service for Mrs. Hulon will be at 2:00pm, Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with the family receiving friends from 12pm to service time. Interment will follow at Oakland Memorial Park.
