http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~neplatte/vitals/vitals1971.html The Columbus Telegram, December 22, 1971 KLUG--Mrs. Lena Klug's funeral Thursday Funeral service for Mrs. Lena Klug, 88, who died at Columbus Manor Tuesday morning, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church with burial in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. H.M. Rathkamp will officiate. Now lying in state at Gass-Haney chapel, her body will be taken to the church to lie in state from 9:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m. Thursday. A lifetime resident of this area, Mrs. Klug was born Aug. 29, 1883 in Platte County and attended District 10 School. Her parents were the late Franz and Katherine Luchsinger. Baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Shell Creek, she was married there to John Klug on March 5, 1902. They farmed near Richland until moving to Columbus in 1926 to make their home at 2508 20th Street. Mr. Klug died Sept 4, 1945. A charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church Mrs. Klug was affiliated with Ladies Aid and Kensington Circle, as well as Friendly Neighbors and Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Helen Engel of Columbus, Harold Klug of Richland, Mrs. Richard (Vera) McKenzie of San Gabriel, Calif., Mrs. John (Genevieve) Mason of Torrance, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Katherine Schmid of Columbus; nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son; three brothers, Henry, Frank and Peter Luchsinger; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Welch and Mrs. Susan Heitz. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Memorial fund or the donor's choice.
