Bio

Based off census records he is believed to be the son of Ruben Marlow & Susan Ward. Married Sarah Jane Hasler 01 Mar 1849 in Madison County, Missouri. Joseph & Sarah had four children: William Ruben Marlow, Nancy Jane Marlow, John Hasler Marlow, Martha Joann "Jo Annie" Marlow. Military service: Joseph Marlow enlisted in Company I, 3rd Mounted Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army during the Mexican American War under the command of Colonel John Ralls and Colonel Sterling Price. He fought at the battle of Santa Cruz de Rosales. His brother Duke Ward fought in this same unit. During the Civil War he enlisted as a private in Company B, 9th Texas Calvary Regiment in the Confederate Army on February 20, 1861. He served at the Battle of Corinth and was killed during an assault on Union held positions on October 3, 1862. He was buried in a mass grave along with his fallen comrades.
