Bio
Marlene Marie Odvody, of Seward, was born September 10, 1935 to Joseph and Tillie (Navratil) Anderly in Seward County, Nebraska. She was baptized in Dwight, Nebraska September 15, 1935 and confirmed at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Bee, Nebraska. Marlene attended Bee Grade School and then Garland High School graduating in 1953. On September 15, 1953, Marlene married Philip Odvody in Bee, Nebraska and became a homemaker. To this union five children were born, Julie, Sherry, Lorie, Kenny and Susan. While they were growing up, Marlene was involved with the Buzzy Bee 4-H Club, FFA and FBLA. Marlene worked beside Phil on the farm north of Seward and did books for Buds Flying Service until Phil died June 23, 1991. Marlene moved to Seward in 1992. Marlene worked at Hughes Brothers in the lunchroom and cleaned house for many, where she made many friends. She was a longtime member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Seward, Altar society and WFLP Lodge L8. Marlene died March 12, 2022 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 2 days. She is survived by her children, Julie (Ron) Potter, Seward, Nebraska, Sherry (Dave) Leising, Seward, Nebraska, Lorie (Roger) Jirovsky, Seward, Nebraska, Kenny (Janet) Odvody, Seward, Nebraska, Susan (John) Singleton, Seward, Nebraska; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Tillie Anderly; husband, Phil Odvody; daughter-in-law, Deb Odvody; son-in-law, Gary Luebbe; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Phil and Rose Odvody; grandchildren, Trisha and Tasha Jirovsky, daughters of Lorie and Roger Jirovsky.
