John William "Dub" Carrell went to be with his heavenly father on March 6, 2022. Dub was born October 29, 1924 in Hagensport Franklin County, TX to William Chesley and Meta Pike Carrell. He married Joyce Carrell in Stanton, TX on June 1, 1946. Dub was a member of Cottonflat Baptist Church. After graduation Dub joined the US Army, he served from June 23, 1943 to January 27, 1946. He started out at Fort Bliss, TX as an army grade tech 5, he was stationed in Europe as ambulance driver he followed General Patton across Europe in the American Theater Campaign, and was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. When he came back from WWII he met Joyce, and they were married six months later. Dub worked for his father-in-law in the construction business. Until he went to work for JW Cooper Construction in Odessa, he was the superintendent and helped build the Midland County Courthouse, Petroleum Museum, Medical Center Hospital, Odessa Library, AT&T building and many more. He retired for the first time in 1986. Dub could not stand retirement, so he went to work for Jim Prince Properties, he retired from there in 1996. Then went to work at Walmart as a greeter for eight years until his final retirement. Dub is preceded in death by his parents, wife of sixty six years Joyce, brothers; Lee Earl, DT, Edward. Sisters; Patsy Jo, Thelma, and Sybil. Great great grandson Mason as well as his son-in-law Richard Brown. Left behind to Cherish his memory is Beverly and Charles Richardson of Midland, Bill and Margaret Carrell of Midland. Rhonda Brown of Mabank. Grandchildren, Melisa and Noland Potter, Jerry and Rebecca Richardson, Richard and Amanda Carrell, Christopher and Candice Brown, Wade and Crystal Carrell, and Jessica Carrell. Great grandchildren; Kyle, Chaselyn, Shelby, Elizabeth, Gage, Megan, Taylor, Jaden, Landree, Kydie Richardson, Justin Walker, Kristiana and AJ, Justin Alvarez. Great great grandchildren, Audrey, Chloe Aryha Richardson, Kasey, August, Jameson, and Frankie. Brother, Roy Oren Carrell, and many more nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday March 10, from 5pm-9pm at Ellis Funeral Home. With services on Friday March 11th. Funeral services will be held at Cottonflat Baptist Church on Rankin Highway at 1:30pm, with a graveside service following at Resthaven Memorial Park at 3:00pm.
