Edward Boehm was born at Frankstadt,Bohemia, Prussia (Frankstadt is a village in the Carpathian Mountains. His Father, Stephen Boehm,was a well established tailor in the Village. Edward's Father was able to secure him passage from Prussia through Austria and Germany for immigration to America. At Bremen, Edward obtained passage on the "FRANKFORT", arriving at New Orleans after a three week voyage. Edward Boehm travelled from New Orleans via train to Morgan City, Louisiana, where he boarded a local vessel for Galveston. He took a train to Harrisburg(now Houston,Texas)to Weimar,Texas. From here he, along with other immigrants, travelled by oxen pulled wagons, arriving at LaGrange, Texas. Edward worked odd jobs, did some farming, finally seeking employment with Mrs. Edward Knesek, at Praha,Tx. Mrs. Knesek's was widowed and needed someone to "run" the mercantile business. Edward travelled on to Moulton, being one of the 1st to buy lots in that town. 1882 Edward Boehm married Mary Adamcik at Bluff, Fayette County, Texas. 1888 Edward Boehm opened his Mercantile Store in Moulton.
