Obituary as written in the Glasco Sun, April 18, 1902. Article received courtesy of Charles McClellan. Two More Old Settlers Translated JOHN WESLEY PILCHER was born in Clinton county, Ohio, April 22nd, 1821, and died in Glasco, Kansas, April 12, 1902. ELIZA ANN PILCHER, his wife, was born in Connersville, Fayette county, Indiann [sic], on December 21th [sic], 1825 and died on April 13th, 1902 at their home in Glasco, they were only separated from each other a few hours. They walked with God and they were not afraid, for God took them. They lived to a good old age and their lives were beautified by the presence of the Christ. They were old settlers in this county, having landed here thirty years ago. They were acquainted with hard times. They had improved a farm on Criss Creek. When they were old they left the farm and moved to town. Their lives were beautiful and a benediction to everyone they came in contact with. When very young they united with the Methodist Episcopal church and remained faithful members of the same until God called them home. They suffered much in their last days, but never murmured or complained in their affliction; they trusted in God. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Flowers from the M. E. Church on April 15th. Remains were intered [sic] in Glasco cemetery. A great concourse of people followed them to their last resting place. This couple walked together in married life for more than fifty-five years and it was their prayer that they should go home together. God granted their request. Additional info: John and Eliza had a child not linked here as I have no burial information for her. Cornelia Belle (Pilcher) Rice, born Jul. 6, 1847 in Illinois and died Jun 30, 1931 in Blair, Washington, Nebraska.
