Carl Ferron Olson, 88 died at home in Vernal, Dec. 2, 2007 of natural causes. Carl was born Aug. 14, 1919 in Leamington to Carl Fritzhoff Olson and Rose Kelsey Olson. Carl served his country honorably for four years during World War II in the pacific theater with the US Army 115th combat engineer BN. Carl fought in numerous campaigns and achieved the rank of corporal. He received numerous awards and medals including the bronze star. Carl was preceded in death by his younger brother Norman who died in combat in 1944 near the German French border during the liberation of France. Carl was devastated by the loss of his little brother but 62 years later at the age of 86, Carl traveled to the Lorraine American cemetery in St. Avold France to finally say goodbye to his brother and comrade. The happiest times of Carl's life were spent on the Oregon Coast with his sweet hart Winnie who had been his loving companion for the last 40 years. Even though Carl and Winnona couldn't stay in the home they loved, they were together to the end and found a new family that loved them very much. Carl is survived by a sister, Shirley; children, Kenneth, Karen, Glenn and Bethany. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, two of which were the light of his life, Lauren and Nick, who were with grandpa Carl every day. Carl was preceded in death by wife, Winnona; brother, Norman; sisters, Annie, Rosa and Verdella. Military honors will be conducted at a graveside service at Camp Williams memorial in Salt Lake City.
