Miss Ruby Campbell died Thursday, December 6, after a brief illness. On Friday, November 29, she contracted a severe cold and grippe, which gradually became more complicated and coupled with heart weakness, resulted in her death. Ruby, daughter of Oliver A. and Nance Campbell was born at Rantoul, Ill, November 3, 1872, where she grew in womanhood and where she received her education in the public schools. She early in life accepted Christ as her Savior uniting with the Methodist Episcopal church at Urbana, Ill. She came to Harris about 25 years ago and transferred her membership to the Methodist church in Harris August 21, 1904. Always interested in the moral and spiritual welfare of the church and community she was faithful to her duties in the various societies of which she was a member. She was deeply interested in the Sunday school and served as secretary of the Samaritan class. At last Sunday school board meeting, she was elected temperance superintendent. She was a member of the W.C.T.U. and served as president of the local organization. She was a member of other local civic organizations and served equally well. Ruby, as she was known by all her friends, will be missed and her memory will be cherished. She was one of a family of six children, two boys and four girls. One brother, Edward, and a sister, Alice, together with her parents have preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Stevens, Guernsey, WY and Caroline Campbell of Harris, a brother, Ralph of Cavelier, ND, thirteen nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.
