George Norman Key, Sr. 87, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 in Iowa Park. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Faith Baptist Church of Iowa Park with Dr. Ted Spear officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, August 21, 2015 at the Guthrie Cemetery in Guthrie, Texas under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM in the chapel at Dutton Funeral Home on Thursday, August 20, 2015. George was born December 21, 1927 in Barnum to Olan and Opal (Starnes) Key. He married Mildred Vinson on March 8, 1951 in Tahoka, Texas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked for 40 years as a Ranch Foreman for the Pitchfork Land and Cattle Company. He was County Commissioner for King County and a School Board Member in Guthrie, Texas. In Iowa Park, George volunteered at the Friendly Door Senior Citizens Center and delivered food for Meals on Wheels. He served as a Deacon for the First Baptist Church of Dumont, Texas and was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Iowa Park. George was known as a highly Christian man who never wavered from his beliefs. George is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one son, George Key, Jr. Surviving relatives include his sons, Hugh Key and his wife, Clydene of Abilene, Texas, and Charles Key of Lubbock, Texas; one brother, Bill of Seminole, Texas; one sister, Dorothy of Tahoka, Texas; grandchildren, Cassandra Lyons and husband, Jason, Jerri McKamy and husband, Andy, Kristi Bumpus and husband, Brett, and Chris Key and wife, Camiele; great grandchildren, Presley and Keygan Bumpus. Memorials are suggested to the Friendly Door Senior Citizens Center for the Meals on Wheels program.
