Bio

Boyd Anderson Dear entered peacefully into rest on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the age of 64 years, 10 months and 12 days, at the Sabine Retirement and Rehab Center in Many, LA with his family by his side. Boyd was born on Sunday, April 7, 1957, in DeRidder, LA to Berry Louis and Ellon Elizabeth Gill Dear. Visitation will be on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Labby Memorial Funeral, located at 2110 HWY 171 S, DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022, with a visitation starting at 9:00 AM until the time of service which will begin at 10:00 AM, in the chapel with Rev. Frank Ott officiating. Interment will follow at the Smyrna Cemetery in DeRidder. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder. Boyd loved to fish, play golf, and watch football, especially the LSU Tigers. He enjoyed being in nature and loved to go hiking. Boyd loved his family and loved spending time with them. He will be missed by all those that loved him. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Eric Dear and wife Alma of Tyler, TX; daughter, Lindsay Peck and husband Marshall of Huntsville, TX; two brothers, Gary Dear of DeRidder, LA, and Paul Dear and wife Debbie of Westlake, LA; one granddaughter, Isabel Grace Dear; and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Berry and Ellon Dear; brother, Larry Gene Dear. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Sammie Gill, Neal Gill, Brady Ashworth, Marshall Peck, Grady Collins, and Jaime Martin.
