Bio
Jerry Witherspoon Dec. 21, 1937 - Jan. 22, 2013 Resident of San Jose Jerry was born in Dallas, Texas and died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 75. He was a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and served twenty years in the U.S. Army, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. He then worked for ten years at FMC, retiring after a career in engineering and Human Resources. Despite retiring, Jerry went on to become a Certified Financial Planner, and worked in that field for another ten years, including as a partner at King Wealth Planning. For the past thirty years, he has been active at St. Jude's Episcopal Church, Cupertino, serving several times as Senior Warden and as a Stephen Ministry leader. He was also active in the Diocese of El Camino Real, where he served as a member of the Standing Committee, Commission on Ministry, and as Deputy to General Convention; he was awarded the Bishop's Cross in 2004. He is loved and survived by his wife Susan; children Michael, Patricia Nance (husband Craig), Theresa (wife Denise Bergin), and Mark; great-niece Sarah Dennis, for whom he served as guardian for ten years; grandsons Michael and Matthew Lash; and great-grandson Peyton Lash.
