"On Saturday, January 27, 2024, Jimmy Sanders was called home. He was the youngest of 3 children born on March 26, 1945 in San Angelo, Texas to Robert and Mackie (nee Douglas) Sanders. He was the youngest of three children He attended San Angelo Central High School and graduated in 1963. Jimmy had 4 beautiful children whom he loved and adored; Jerry Don Baker born November 20, 1963 in San Angelo, Texas, Kevin Kenley born May 26, 1964 in San Angelo, Texas, Sabrina Rene born February 23, 1967 in San Angelo, Texas and Corey Ryan born May 4, 1972 in Hammond, Indiana. He married Marsha Kaye Poss of San Angelo on January 24, 1964 and moved to Lubbock, TX where he graduated from Sunset School of Preaching in 1969. The call to serve God led Jimmy to Illinois where he pastored several churches in the Chicago area and served as a prison minister in the Illinois State Penitentiary. Due to an unforeseeable tragedy in the loss of his family, Jimmy moved back to San Angelo in 1975. He worked for West Texas Utilities throughout his work life and started Concho Valley Builders where he designed and built some of the first homes in Southland. In 1981, he met the love of his life Pam Underwood and they were married in San Angelo, Texas on April 18, 1981. Shortly after, they moved to the Dallas area where he began a career as a pilot, builder, farmer, and rancher. After a long and fulfilling career, he and Pam retired to Hye, Texas in 2013 where they built their Hill Country cabins. Jim's call to serve others and his dedicated work ethic led him to a job at the Stonewall Post Office until 2019 where he was a friend to many. He always had a smile and big hug for everyone. Kindness and generosity were only two of the characteristics that best described Jimmy. He loved with his whole heart and when he loved you, you knew without a doubt you were loved. Jimmy was a lifelong learner and teacher. His love of the scriptures led him to study Hebrew and Greek. He loved all genres of music especially country music. He was a great dancer and loved a cold beer with his nachos. He is preceded in death by his wife Marsha and their three children; Kevin, Sabrina and Corey, his parents Robert and Mackie, sister Patricia, nephew Jonathan, his granddaughter Alexia, brothers-in-law Doug, John, and Sam Underwood, and great nephew Jace. A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 10th at 11:30 A.M. at Brown Ranch Cemetery in Fisk, Texas. A Celebration of Life will be held in Jimmy's honor at his home in Hye, Texas at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity." (Schaetter - Fredericksburg, Tx - 2024)
