UNMARKED GRAVE - The last two sentences in the attached newspaper are confusing. One would think that the Frank Humes is Alexander's son, but he would have been only eight years old. Perhaps he was a brother, though I am unable to find him in any records. The next problem is taking the body back to Illinois, the "old home." Alexander was born in PA, was in Perry Co., PA in 1850, 1870 in Meade Co., KY, and in Harrison Co., IN for his marriage, the birth of his first three children and in 1880. The family was not in Illinois. Also to consider, his wife, Lydia, died 18 months before him, in Custer Co., NE and buried in Sherman Co., NE. It would seem that he would be buried with her. So, for now, I am putting him here until another location can be proved. Alternate spelling of surname: Holmes Married Jan 4 1873 Harrison Co., IN Of note, Alexander was 34 years older than Lydia. Was he married before? If the 1850 Census, Perry Co., PA,'s Alexander is this one, then he had a son, John (b. 1849), no wife listed
