Mary Frances Killion of Young Harris, Formerly of Blairsville and Marietta, GA., passed away January 23, 2022 in Union General Hospital. She was 96. She was born September 13, 1925 in Anderson County, Texas to the late Mary Elizabeth Carnes and the late Walter Montgomery Killion. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Ruel, and five sisters, Vera Killion Wallace, Mamie Killion Buell, Athal Killion Cooksey, Sadie Killion, Thornton, and Pearl Killion Neff; also her nephew Billy Wallace. Mary graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1943. She attended New York Institute of Finance (Correspondence School). In 1951 she was employed by Merrill Lynch where she worked for 36 & ½ years in various cities, Houston Tx., Fort Worth, Tx., Orlando, FL., and Atlanta, GA. She held various positions, cashier, operations manager, and retired in 1990 as a paralegal in the Atlanta, GA. Merrill Lynch center office. In 1997 Mary moved to Blairsville to enjoy the beautiful mountains. She and a friend hiked the Appalachian Trail and trails on the Blue Ridge Parkway, including Pisgah Mountain in Asheville NC., She enjoyed eating out with friends. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville, and a devoted member of the Faith Sunday School class which she loved. Left to cherish her memory, beside her family are friends and especially her dear friend Jeanne Taylor. No services are planned at this time. Mountain View Funeral Home, Blairsville, GA.
