Burlington County Times - Beverly, NJ resident Joseph Anthony Sadowski, Sr., age 83 of Beverly, NJ, passed away on October 5, 2007 at Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Willingboro, NJ after a sudden and unexpected illness. Born in Dickson City, PA, son of the late Kostic Sadowski and Mary Slawinski. He attended Dickson City H.S. and joined the C.C. Camp at the age of 17, then went on to join the United States Navy at age 18. He served his country proudly during WWII, he served on the U.S.S. Borie DD 704 and the U.S.S. Libra as a gunners mate. His ship was Komacozied two weeks before the war ended in Japan. He was severly wounded and received the Honorable Purple Heart, in addition to several other medals for his bravery and courage. A true hero to his country, he was also a lifetime member of the DAV, and belonged to the VFW Post 3020 of Delran, NJ (I'm so proud of you Daddy!) Joseph is predeceased by his loving wife of forty-years, Jean Bandish, who passed away in 1989; his son, Joseph Anthony, Jr. and daughter, Jessica Kim. Joseph is survived by his loving daughter, Susan and most loved and treasured granddaughter, Jessica, also future son-in-law, Dale and great-grandson, Desmond. His daughter- in-law, Fonda Sadowski and family; sisters, Teresa Kerecman, Elizabeth Sherota, Irene Wirbicki; brother, Richard Sadowski and their families. He had very many special and very loved nieces and nephews, and very many special friends. He is also survived by his special adopted grandchildren, Jimmy, David, Faith, Aimee, Laura, Kim, Jay, Lynn Deatore of Beverly. He also had a very special sweet little girl who he loved very much named Diajiah of Mount Holly. The family would like to thank the staff at Lourdes Hospital for the special care given during their father's illness, and special thanks to Dr. Stephen Kabel, and Connie, and Lynn, God Bless You All. Relatives and friends are invited to Joseph's funeral services on Friday morning at the WALTER SNOVER FUNERAL HOME, 478 Cooper St., Beverly, NJ 08010. Calling hours will be from 8:30 to 9:45 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at the St. Casimir's R.C. Church, 502 New Jersey Ave., Riverside, NJ. Interment will be at the Beverly National Cemetery.
