Bio

[From The Stark County News, Toulon, Illinois, Wed., November 22, 1944, p. 6, col. 6] Henry Boardman Dies As Result of Fall Funeral services for Henry Boardman, 80, of Elmira, were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon [November 20, 1944] at Osceola Baptist church, in charge of the pastor, Rev. D. J. Unruh. Mr. Boardman passed away at 2:20 Friday afternoon from shock and complications as the result of a fall suffered November 13 at his home. Coroner J. O. Stephenson, of Galva, conducted an inquest Saturday at the Seifert & Smith Funeral Home after which the body was removed to the Kidd Funeral Home in this city. Testimony at the inquest by Mrs. Boardman and a neighbor, Dale Rist, showed that he had fallen on Saturday, November 11, and again on the following Monday when he fractured his arm. Pall bearers were J. L. W. Fuller and Dale Rist, Elmira, and Ray Spencer and Herbert Ford, of Osceola. Song service was given by Mrs. James A. Briggs and Mrs. J. M. Cinnamon, accompanied by Mrs. Ray Turnbull. Henry E. Boardman, son of George and Lydia Dalrymple Boardman, was born near Lombardville, in Stark county, on January 13, 1864, and died Friday at Kewanee Public hospital at the age of 80 years, 10 months and four days. He attended the Elmira school and the Toulon Academy, later teaching school until a number of years ago when he began farming. He was married about 37 years ago to Maude Vernon and Mr. and Mrs. Boardman moved a year ago from a farm near Elmira to that village. He was a member of the Osceola Baptist church. Besides his wife he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Cocking and Mrs. Nellie Thurman, both of Cushing, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Theresa Risedorf, of Minnesota.
