Anna Mae Knechtly, age 86, of Mount Gilead, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022, at AdventHealth Care Center Celebration in Kissimmee, Florida, following an extended illness. Anna Mae was born on June 23, 1935, to Mildred and Hobart Bravard and grew up in Brown County, Ohio. She attended Georgetown High School and was a cheerleader, but she didn't have her eye on the quarterback, but the tuba player in the band. She married Eddie Knechtly on July 5, 1952. They were married 54 years until his death in 2006. They moved to Central Ohio and raised their family of 4 on the farm near Mount Gilead, Ohio. They raised cows, chickens, pigs and even chinchillas for a while. Although her favorite animals on the farm were the barn cats and kittens. A woman of faith, Anna Mae was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Anna Mae was a quiet and unassuming person, but once you got to know her you were exposed to her fun-loving side. She would get a twinkle in her eye and would deliver a one-liner that would have you laughing, because you would not expect her to say something like that. She will be missed by her family and friends. She leaves behind three sons: Dennis (Teri) Knechtly of Wylie, TX, Darrell (Rhonda) Knechtly of Kissimmee, FL, and David (Debra) Knechtly of Mount Gilead, OH.
