Bio

Dorothy E. Lodes July 12, 1931 - January 14, 2022 Dorothy Ellen Lodes, age 90, passed away at Josie Harper Hospice House January 14, 2022. She was born July 12, 1931 to Corlis and Blanch (Miklas) Roberts in Mitchell, NE. Dorothy spent most of her childhood in Dodge, NE. She graduated high school from Dodge and later she attended Wayne State College. Dorothy was in the Council Bluffs School District for many years and she was a secretary at Carter Lake Elementary. She was also a librarian for the district as well. In 1953, Dorothy married David Lodes and they lived in Carter Lake Iowa for 60 years. She was a long-time member of Corpus Christi- Our Lady of Carter Lake Church and served as a volunteer for many years. Dorothy was very active in the Carter Lake community and spent many hours volunteering at the Carter Lake Public Library. She served on the committee that created the history of Carter Lake book. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Lodes; step-father, Arthur Jensen; brother, Harold Roberts. Dorothy is survived by sons, John Lodes, Michael (Victoria) Lodes and Patrick (Danette) Lodes; sister, Mary (Jim) Wiley; grandchildren, Angela (Budge) Austin, Jennifer (John) Pier, Brian (Nicola) Lodes, Brett Lodes and Chris Lodes; great grandchildren, Ava Austin, Drew Austin, Taylor Pier, Logan Pier, Leah Lodes, Alex Lodes, and Ethan Lodes. Vigil service is at the Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Tuesday January 18, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will follow until 7:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Carter Lake Church, 3501 N. 9th St, Council Bluffs, IA 51501 on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Interment will be held at Westlawn Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 5701 Center St. Omaha, NE 68106. Memorials may be directed to the Carter Lake Public Library.
