Jerome "JC" Clifton Hejl, age 96, passed away peacefully at his home in Georgetown, Texas on January 12, 2022. JC was born in Breckenridge, Texas on July 24, 1925, to William Frank Hejl and Lorena Jones Hejl. He served as a pilot in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, and later had a long career as a draftsman at Exxon. JC married Jeanette "Jean" Wolford Hejl on November 15, 2010 in Abilene, Texas. JC was preceded in death by William Hejl (father), Lorena Jones Hejl (mother), William Goodrich Hejl (brother), Frank Eugene Hejl (brother), Elizabeth "Betty" McKinney Hejl (1st wife), and Laura Grey Hejl Packer (daughter). JC is sorely missed by his wife Jean, son-in-law Randy Packer, step-children Jody Wood Miller, Jamie Wood Harris, Jon Wood, sisters Evelyn Browning and Mary Jo Taylor, two grandchildren Jay Packer and Melissa Packer Goldsmith, and numerous nieces and nephews; and survived by sons Jerry and Lee. The family will gather in loving remembrance of JC's life and he will be interred at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the Salvation Army.
