Gary was the son of Leo Austin Dacus & wife, Doris LaVerne Collins. His obit names his parents as Leo & Violette. Violette was his step-mother. ∼ Gary Lee Dacus, age 73, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully January 11, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City surrounded by his family. He was born June 23, 1948, in Chickasha, Oklahoma; raised in Cyril, Oklahoma, and later moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Gary was in the United States Army and served in Vietnam from 1968-69. In April 1975 he met Patricia Hames on a blind date, and they were married August 21, 1976. In 1980, Gary started work at Tinker Air Force Base. He worked in several areas on base, including refurbishing breathing apparatus for the pilots. He retired after 31 years, Gary enjoyed many sports, especially the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys. Gary and Patricia participated in craft shows and quilt shop hops around the state. Survived by his wife Patricia of 45 years; daughter Angela, son Jeffrey, and four grandchildren. Gary was very proud of his family. Also survived by his brother Galen Dacus, sister-in-law Therease, his sisters Sharon and Jean. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Leo, and Violette Dacus. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Rau, Dr. Thomas, and Dr. Jawaid. Gary was cremated and chose to be an organ/tissue donor. The family will be holding a private service at a later date in remembrance and celebration of his life. Gary will be greatly missed.
