Hazel Ezell Loving, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Hazel Ezell went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 6, 2008. Through the course of her 87 years, Hazel held the various roles of a strong woman, from homemaker to laborer, from daughter to wife, from mother to great-grandmother, from hard worker to lady of leisure. After a short career in Dallas, she and her family returned to the family dairy in Pickton, Texas where she lived out the remainder of her life. Hazel had a great passion for life, family and friends. Family was a priority for her. Whether she was cooking a huge meal for the whole family or taking care of her grandchildren, she always made room for more people at the table and more children in her home. Some of the best memories the family will cherish and hold close in their hearts are holidays together, family travels, Friday night dinners, and learning about life on the dairy. As a faithful member of Caney Baptist Church, Hazel’s voice could be clearly heard as she joyfully sang the hymns. Her family and friends could often read her mood by listening for her humming and singing. She was full of wit. Her eyes would twinkle with merriment and she brightened many lives with her smile. Hazel Earlene Nichols was born in Hopkins County,Texas Nov. 11, 1920 to Melvin and Viola Nichols. She was married to John Howard Allen with whom she had 2 daughters, Barbara Allen Romack and Patsy Allen Bolton. Following Howard’s death, Hazel married H.M. Ezell with whom she had a son, Michael Ezell. Proceeded in death by her husbands and her parents, she is survived by her three loving children, daughters, Barbara Allen Romack and husband, Hal Romack of Sulphur Springs, Patsy Allen Bolton and husband, Morris (Butch) Bolton of Sulphur Springs, and son, Michael Ezell of Pickton. She is also survived by her brother, Billy Nichols and wife, Wanda Nichols of Seguin, TX. Hazel leaves 4 grandchildren, Greg Romack, Terry Bolton and wife, Sonja Bolton, Jeff Romack and wife, Kelly, and Tammy Bolton Raulerson and husband, Michael Raulerson. She also leaves 6 great-grandchildren, Chainie Bolton, Chelbie Bolton, Cherish Bolton, Landon Romack, Connor Romack, and Tacey Raye Raulerson. The family would like to thank the many friends and acquaintances who took the time to make her days on Earth as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Many special people spent their days with her to provide her with the companionship and care she needed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Caney Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Billie Phillips, 160 FM 269 S, Pickton, Texas 75471.
