Georgie Mary (Palla) Vitek, 81, of Granger passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 at St. David's/Georgetown Hospital. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Condra Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Granger Brethren Church with Rev. She was introduced to August Frank Vitek by her brother Charlie Palla and was married July 30, 1946. They were blessed with a son, August James Vitek. She was a member of the Granger Brethren Church and a past member of the Granger Brethren Church Christian Sisters. She was a wonderful cook, with her turkey dressing being a family favorite, which she taught us this year. She loved to work with her flowers; she could make almost anything grow. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, she made several items for all of our family reunions, family members and friends. She was talented in so many ways. She was very independent, remaining at her home living by herself and driving herself. She had a great love of her family and enjoyed time spent with her grandsons and great granddaughters. She will be greatly missed by her many loving family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, August Frank Vitek who died Nov. 9, 1997; brother, Charlie Palla; and sisters, Mildred Palla Valis and (Baby) Mary Palla. She is survived by her son, August James Vitek and wife, Donna of Granger; grandsons, Darrell Vitek of Granger and Kevin Vitek and wife Kristen of Georgetown; great-granddaughters, Kayla Vitek of Granger and Katy and Kinsey Vitek of Georgetown; brothers; Albert Palla and wife Rose Marie of Houston, Henry Palla and wife Betty of Houston and Louis Palla and wife Lois of Bellville; sister, Alice Rumley and husband Paul of Granger; as well as many other loving family members and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews, Lonnie Palla, Lyle Palla, Gilbert Palla, Walter McFadden, Melvin Volek and Darwin Zrubek. The family would like to thank everyone for their show of love, thoughts and prayers given to us and our loved one. Condra Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
