Richard Allen Baker, 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. Service: 12:30 p.m. Thursday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. A reception will follow at Mira Vista Country Club. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity or Community Hospice of Fort Worth, 6100 Western Place, Suite 500, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Richard was born Sept. 22, 1939, in Stephenville to Charles and Helen Baker. He was moved to White Settlement in 1943. There he was raised and educated, graduating from Brewer High School in 1958. After graduating he went to work for Stationer's Distribution Co., planning for the job to be temporary until he could get hired at the "bomber plant," now Lockheed. The Stationer's job lasted a bit longer than planned. Richard rose from warehouseman to president in 1982, finally retiring in 1992 after selling the company. Richard loved golf, playing almost every day with his wife, Doris, or his many friends at Mira Vista Country Club. He also had been a member of Ridglea Country Club and Shady Oaks Country Club. Richard loved his family dearly and will be missed by many. He was married to his loving wife, Doris, for 46 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepson, Stan Watts. Survivors: Wife, Doris Baker; children, Steve Baker and wife, Laurie, of Germantown, Tenn., Rusty Watts and wife, Elaine, of Burleson, Keith Baker and wife, Brandi, of South Ogden, Utah, Debbie Kommer of Alamogordo, N.M., and Rick Baker Jr. and wife, Donna, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; several grandchildren; and sister, Judy Wade of Shawnee, Okla.
