Johnnie J. Volek, 82, died May 12, 2005 at his residence in Granger, Texas. Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Friday, May 13th at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of life services will be 2 PM, Saturday, May 14, 2005 at The Brethren Church in Granger with Rev. Albert Michalek officiating. Burial will follow at Brethren Cemetery. Johnnie Jerry Volek was born June 20, 1922 in Williamson County to John and Frances(Simcik) Volek. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Medical Technician from June 5, 1941 to October 26, 1945. Johnnie married Hattie Frances Pekar on November 19, 1951 in Granger, Texas. He spent his life farming and ranching. Johnnie was a retired Granger ISD custodian. He was a member of the Granger Brethren Church and a member of the SPJST Lodge #20. Johnnie's humor, and love for his family will always be a cherished by the many family members and friends he leaves behind. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hattie on November 14, 2000, his brothers, Henry, Joe, Ludvik Volek, sisters, Mildred Subik, Annie Dana, Frances Srba, and Bertha Cadan. Johnnie is survived by his brothers, Frank Volek of Taylor, Paul Volek and his wife Delores of Taylor, a sister, Rosie Seawright of Houston; mother-in-law, Frances Zak Pekar of Temple; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; nieces; and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rudy Dana, Melvin Volek, Edward Volek, Marvin Hutka, Allen Ochoa, Jason Volek, Jay Volek, Jackie Volek, Sidney Seawright and Ervin Volek. Honorary pallbearers will be Pamela Barr, Richard Cadan, Michael Selucky, and Jeffrey Ochoa. Memorials may be made to the Granger Brethren Church at P.O. Box 943, Granger, Texas, 76530.
