Funeral services for Hallie Mitchell, 98, of Levelland were held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 14, 2006 at First Baptist Church, Levelland with Dr. Steve Vernon, pastor, officiating. Burial was in City of Levelland Cemetery under direction of George Price Funeral Home. She died at 10:55 p.m., Tuesday, April 11,2006 at her home. She was under care of Hospice of Lubbock. She was born on Aug. 9, 1907 at Rising Star, Texas, she moved to Levelland in 1945 from Kilgore, Texas. She married Thomas Mitchell on May 21, 1929 in Breckinridge, Texas. He died Feb. 11, 1986. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Levelland where she taught Sunday school and worked in the church library. Following her retirement, she traveled a great deal. She was also preceded in death by a son, James Mitchell in 1997. Survivors include her son, Charles Mitchell and his wife, Bettye, of Houston; a daughter-in-law, Diane Mitchell of Lubbock; two grandchildren, Jan Carrasco of Brownfield, and Kay Riedl of Lankin, KS; and three great-grandchildren.
