Hymon Russell, born June 21, 1923, passed away January 31, 2018. Born in Waldron, Arkansas to Oscar William Russell and Hastle "Hassie" Smith Russell, he had one brother and one sister. Russell enlisted in the US Army at age 16 and served in Battery C of the 18th Field Artillery. Trained in Motor Mechanics and Horsemanship, he served at Fort Sill, OK, Great Britain, Normandy, Rhineland Ardennes, Northern France, and Germany. During his service, he received the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Ribbon, EAME Theater Service Ribbon, and one Silver Star. His employment as a Certified Mechanic included Tulsa Bus Lines, McDonnell Douglas, Bill White Chevrolet and Gary Johnston Auto Repair. Hymon loved The Lord, his family, sports and working on cars. He had an infectious smile and a very generous, giving spirit that could be felt as he entered any room. He could also make you laugh out loud with his quick wit. A faithful Christian, Hymon lead his family in prayer each and every night at dinner up until his passing at age ninety-four. He loved all sports, but particularly enjoyed watching Oklahoma City Thunder basketball and the Dallas Football Cowboys!
