Bio

MOORE — Services for former Ardmore resident James H. "Bogie" Davis Sr., 78, Moore, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Ireland Funeral Home. Graveside rites with military honors will follow at 4 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore. Davis passed away June 24, 1997, at Southwest Medial Center. He was born to Ovie and J.H. Davis May 13, 1919. James married Marie Darter on July 9, 1942. He retired in 1984 after working 39 years in the oil field industry. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Ardmore. A veteran of World War II, he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and served from 1942 to 1945. His military decorations include the European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with four service stars, the Army Good Conduct Medal, and the American Defense Service Ribbon. Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Tommy Epperson; and son, James Jr., all of Moore; a sister and brother-in-law, LaVerne and Richard Morris, Ardmore; a brother, Jabo Davis, Texas; four grandchildren, Lane Epperson, Texas, Michelle Fowler, David and Jennifer Davis, Moore; three great-grandchildren, LaChelle Fowler, Moore, Amber and Melissa Epperson, Blanchard; a sister-in-law, Lovella Hayes, Ardmore; and niece, Roberta Hagler, Mississippi.
