Robert Posvar, 67, of Lincoln, passed away Dec. 15, 2014 after an extended battle with cancer. Bob was a free spirit who loved to travel the world and experience other cultures. After college he joined the Peace Corps and was stationed in Nepal. He also lived in Germany and Iran while working for Raytheon. He returned to Lincoln to get his master's degree in computer science, after which he worked for the Lincoln Telephone Company as a systems analyst. He took a retirement package from them and joined Homeland Security where he worked as an immigration officer helping make asylees' dreams come true, to live and work in the United States. He was passionate about his children and grandchildren, traveling, and grandchildren, traveling, gardening, trees and sports. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Donna; daughter, Sarah (Jennifer Jacobsen); son, Matthias; granddaughters, Anabel, Eloise, Piper and Rose Jacobsen; sister, Marlene Zima; father-in-law, Larry Cook; many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Dorothy Posvar; mother-in-law, Shirley Cook; and brother-in-law, Adrian Zima. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, at the Fellowship Community Church, 8601 Holdrege. Lunch will be served immediately following the service at the church.
