John Wellmann Jr, 83 of Jefferson, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Alden Estates of Jefferson, WI. John was born in the country of Romania on February 24, 1936, the son of John Sr. and Sara Wellmann. The family left Romania, and moved the United States when John was a teenager. On May 21, 1960, John married Helen Draeger in Grellton. The couple had 3 children and enjoyed 64 years of marriage until her death in 2014. John worked at Schweiger Industries of Jefferson for more than 25 years. John enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent many happy days watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play soccer and baseball. He was passionate about playing cards and Euchre was his game. He played 3 times a week in Watertown, Jefferson, and Fort Atkinson. He was also an avid Brewers fan. John was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church of Jefferson and lived out the words of Jesus in Revelations 2:10b "..be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life." John will be dearly missed. John is survived by his sons: Steve Wellmann of Jefferson, WI and Scott Wellmann of Watertown, WI; grandchildren: Steven (Ashley), Joshua (Veronica), Alison (Mike), Cody, Cory, Damion, Nicole, and Austin; great-grandchildren: Demitri, Hunter, Elizabeth, Kimberly, Joseph, Jacob, Charlotte, Lillian, and Jason; and his sister Maria Smith of Jefferson, WI; also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Sara; his wife Helen; daughter Barbara Duran; great-grandson Mason and other family members. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, May 17, 2019 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church of Jefferson with Rev. Matthew Krenke presiding.
