Schlecht Funeral Monday - Funeral services for August John Schlecht, who died Friday morning at his home eight miles southeast of Norfolk, will be held at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon at the home and at 2 o'clock at the Evangelical church. The Rev. R. W. Garrison, pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in Prospect Hill cemetery. (second article) Services for August J. Schlecht were conducted by the Rev. R. W. Garrison at Immanuel Evangelical church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Hymns were sung by a mixed quartet consisting of A. Warnstadt, Miss Eleanor Herman, Mrs. R. W. Garrison, and Irvia Werner. Pallbearers were Jud Timperly, John Dover, William Avery, Joe Delare, Levi Lantz, and Otis Timperly. Interment was made in Prospect Hill cemetery. August J. Schlecht, the son of Gottlieb and Anna Schlecht, was born on a farm near Beemer, Neb., Jan. 1, 1874, and died at his home near Norfolk, July 14, having attained the age of 59 years. To him and his wife, Augusta, were born four sons: Edward, Fred, and Irvin of Norfolk, and Herbert, Mullen. His entire life was spent on the farm and for the past twenty years, he had made his home near Norfolk. At an early age, he was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran church at Beemer. Besides his widow and four sons, he leaves his aged mother; five brothers, Ferdinand of Beemer; John of Dodge; Christ of Meadow Grove; and Albert and Ben, both of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Fegley of West Point; Mrs. Anna Neimus of Beemer; and Mrs. Rose Lierman also of Beemer one grandchild, besides many other relatives and friends.
