Bio
Ruth L. Coykendall, 100 year old Arnett, OK resident passed peacefully at her home on November 22, 2021. Ruth was born August 18, 1921, in Lone Wolf, OK to Walter Frank Martin and Pearl (Killian) Martin. Ruth was raised in Hollis, OK before moving to Arnett at the age of thirteen. She then attended Arnett Public Schools. On December 15, 1948, Ruth was united in marriage to Truman (T.L.) Coykendall in Pampa, TX. To this most happy union four children were born: Sharon, Claude, Ida and Carl. They made their home three miles south of Arnett on the family farm. Ruth enjoyed the life of being a wife, mother and helping T.L. on the farm. At an early age, Ruth accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized. She was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church. Ruth and T.L. attended the Arnett Apostolic Faith Church for many years. Ruth loved being outdoors, she produced a bountiful garden and did a lot of canning. Most of all she loved raising chickens and collecting the eggs every evening. Ruth also enjoyed spending time with her family, enjoying her grandkids and watching whatever activities they were participating in at that time. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Pearl Martin, her husband Truman "T.L." Coykendall, daughter Ida Meininger, four brothers Nolan Martin, Clarence Martin, Walter Martin and Berlan Martin, two sisters Mary Gross and Bessie Kosoner and a grandson Byron Coykendall. Those left to cherish her memories are one daughter Sharon Bettes of Southaven, MS; two sons Claude Coykendall and wife LaBrenda of Arnett, OK and Carl Coykendall and wife Michelle of Clinton, OK; seventeen grandchildren; fifty-seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
