Bio

Art was born to Arthur D. Leach, Sr. and Ann Jungman Leach. He was joined by two sisters, Phyllis Kempster and Betty Barkow, and a brother John. He was graduated from North High School in Omaha and began work as a stock clerk for Wright & Wilhelmy Co. in Omaha. It was a major wholesale hardware firm. During World War II he served as a sergeant in the Armny Air Corps. He married (1) Ms. Dean Snyder in 1943. Then after the war he returned to his job in Omaha, and also attended night classes at Creighton University. Art became Vice-President, Treasurer, and a member of the Board of Directors at Wright & Wilhelmy Co. until he retired in 1984. He was a member of Masonic Covert Lodge 11 in Omaha for over 60 years. His wife Dean and Art had two children, Evelyn and Edward. After Dean died Art married (2) Katherine "Kitty" Bray, a widow with a son, Thomas, in 1956. Art and Kitty had a daughter, Laura. After Kitty died Art married (3) Marian Meier in 1986. Besides his first two wives, Art was predeceased by his parents and his sister Phyllis. Survivors include wife Marian, and daughters Evelyn Leach and Laura Leach Oehring; his son Ed; grandchidren, Elizabeth Leach Hancock, Melissa Oehring Moser, Meredith Leach Dierking, and Timothy Oehring, and a great-grandson Owen Hancock. Other survivors include step-children, Richard Meier, Kenneth Meier, and Kather Meier Morris; eight step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-granchildren. He loved to do photography, both still and video. He enjoyed reading, crowwword puzzles, and being with family.
