' Nannie Mai "Mary" Norton was born on August 1, 1909 in Beech Grove, Coffee County, Tennessee, the daughter of Alexander "Alex" Norton (1877–1953) and Neely (Broyles) Norton (1890–1974). She was married on October 19, 1929 in Davidson County, Tennessee to Andrew James Stanfield (1912–1958). {Whatever happened to Andrew is unknown, but both Nannie's Death Certificate and her obituary are listed with Norton as her surname.} A longtime employee of Werthan Bag Corporation and living at 1317 7th Avenue North in Nashville, she was 53 years old and a widow when she died of lymphatic leukemia on March 27, 1963 at Saint Thomas Hospital. Survivors included her daughter Mrs Lillian Bryant, mother Mrs Neeley Broyles Norton, sisters Mrs Thelma Malcom and Mrs Peggy Wafford of Nashville, brothers Cliff Norton in Joelton, Tennessee and R B Norton of Columbia, Tennessee and two grandchildren. Funeral Services were held on March 29th at Buena Vista Funeral Home, and burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Madison {city, not county}.
