After a blessed life of 92 years, Mary Ann Albrecht was called home to our Lord on October 19, 2021. Mary Ann was born in Ennis, TX on July 29, 1929 to Joseph Frank Mikula and Mary Babek Mikula. She grew up on the family farm in Ennis, attended a country school, eventually transferred to St. John Nepomucene Catholic School in Ennis, where she graduated as valedictorian at the age of 16. Because of her young age and money being tight, rather than attend university, Mary Ann attended secretarial school. Mary Ann met the love of her life, Alvin Joseph Albrecht, at a polka dance in Fort Worth, TX and they were married on November 9, 1957. They bought their first and only house, in Hurst, Tx in 1959. Soon after that began the most important and beloved role of her live, that of being a mother to their 3 children, Annette, Andy and Alanna. Second only to God and her Catholic faith, family was the most important thing to Mary Ann and she loved her family with her whole heart. Mary Ann had a servant's heart that can be seen not only in her role as loving mother but also in her choice of careers and volunteer service. Mary Ann and Al were among the founding parishioners at St. John the Apostle Parish, Richland Hills, TX, in 1964, putting in many volunteer hours to get the then young parish up and running. Once her children were school age, Mary Ann began teaching in the St. John the Apostle preschool, instilling a love of God and of learning in many children over her 10 plus years as a teacher. After that, she went to work as an Executive Secretary to the Director of Flight Training at the American Airlines Flight Academy. Again, her servant's heart shined in this role for her 15+ plus years of service. For many years, Mary Ann volunteered at the Food Pantry at St. John the Apostle and later as a regular volunteer for Meals on Wheels. In her retirement years, Mary Ann humorously referred to herself as an LO/ (a.k.a. Little Old Lady). Mary Ann's kindness, genteel manner, grace and sense of humor endeared her to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends! Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Mikula, brother, Jodie Mikula, sisters, Alice Mikula Livingston and Rose Mikula Cain, sister-in-law, Anita Cantrell and beloved husband, Alvin Albrecht. She is survived by her children, Annette Walsh (David) of Spring, TX, Andy Albrecht of Grapevine, TX and Alanna Oliver (Javier) of Smyrna, GA, grandchildren, Brittany Oxhandler (Cody) of Spring, TX, Matthew Walsh (Amanda) of New Baltimore, MI, Joshua, Luke, Sofia and Analise Oliver and great grandchildren, Owen and Ryan Oxhandler. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John the Apostle Food Pantry, 7341 Glenview Dr, North Richland Hills, TX 76180 or to Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County.
