Bio
Joyce M. Rhoades, age 66 of Gatesville, passed away surrounded by her family on the morning of September 2, 2021. Joyce was born on May 17, 1955 in Clifton to Bennie Schrader and Mildred Helm Schrader. She grew up and attended school in Gatesville, graduating with the class of 1974. She married Kenneth Rhoades on October 1, 1977 in Coryell City. Joyce worked for the Gatesville Independent School District for 30 years with the majority of her time being on the Primary School campus. She loved to bake sweets and treats and that she would bring up to her friends at the school. Joyce also enjoyed quilting and cross stitching, as well as collecting hummingbird ornaments. What brought her the most joy in life was her family, especially her five grandchildren, and attending their many sporting and school UIL activities. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Kenneth Rhoades; parents, Mildred and Bennie Schrader. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Lisa Baker and husband, Adam; son, Jake Rhoades and wife, Brandy and step-children, Kevin Rhoades, and Tracy Barton and husband, John; six grandchildren, Kyle, Jacob, Cameron, Zoie, Areona and Kyler; three sisters, Betty Ayers, Janet Ayers and Sandra Brown; two brothers, Donald Schraeder and wife Lydia and Larry Schraeder and wife Jodi and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Ricky Ayers, Jeffrey Ayers, Bobby Ayers, Casey Ayers, Alan Brown, Joseph Schraeder and Kyle Baker.
