Bio
Mass of Christian burial for Ralph Ciochon, 83, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mark Goldasich officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Ciochon died Monday, Aug. 26, 1991, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 5, 1908, in Arcadia, Neb., the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ciochon. Mr. Ciochon had worked for a railroad and for the U.S. Postal Service. He also owned a newspaper in Nebraska and worked for the Kansas University printing service before he retired in 1970. In later years he was known for his bowling ability in the Senior League. Fishing and bowling were his hobbies. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tonganoxie and Carol's Bunch Bowling League. He married Lena Christiana Hawthorne on Aug. 23, 1977, in Tonganoxie. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Carroll, Shawnee; two stepsons, John Larson, Kansas City, Mo., and Jim Larson, Trail, Ore.; two stepdaughters, Betty Faler, Lawrence, and Linda Holder, St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Herbert, Gold Hill, Ore.; a sister, Gertrude Hebert, Los Angeles; five stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
