Margaret (Kucera) Gagnon, 90 years, passed away peacefully October 8, 2021 surrounded by family who loved her. Margaret was preceded in death by her devoted husband Roger who passed in 2016 after 61 years of faithful marriage. She was born April 13, 1931 to Arnold Kucera and Matilda (Svehlak) Kucera who raised a proud Czech family of four brothers and two sisters in Ennis, Texas. She attended St. John School and graduated as Salutatorian in 1948. She later attended Elliott's Business School and became a stenographer, working at the Veterans Administration and at the US Department of Agriculture. She met her husband Joseph Roger Gagnon and married February 5, 1955 in Dallas, Texas where they lived a few years before settling in Ennis, Texas to build a home and raise their family across many years. She was active in civic and church activities and a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great‐ grandmother. She and Roger retired to Woodland Park, Colorado in 1994 and enjoyed life there for 20 years, exploring the mountains, nature, hiking and outdoor activities with friends before finally returning to family in Texas recently. Margaret was a talented artist, an avid oil painter, quilter, birder, wood carver, naturalist and hiker. She absolutely loved the mountains and instilled that same love in her children. She was also a devoted Catholic and enjoyed making rosaries for shipment to foreign missions. She was a whiz at English, literature, Latin and inspired in each of her children a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors, plant and animal taxonomy, along with a strong sense of moral and social responsibility. Margaret is survived by four children (Linda Trojacek and Ernest, Theresa Winstead, Paul Gagnon and Heather, Kathleen Benner and Timothy), seven grandchildren, five great‐grandchildren and one brother and one sister, (Dan Kucera and Mary DaMommio, respectively).
