Louise Jean Burns, 66, of Grand Island passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church. Father Mark Maresh is the celebrant. Visitation is Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. at St. Leo's with a Wake service and Rosary at 6:00. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Louise was born December 20, 1954, at Loup City, NE, the daughter and only child of Clemence and Marie (Derchowski) Stenka. She grew up on a farm at Loup City, graduating from Loup City High School in 1974. Louise married Joe Burns Sr. in 1977. The couple made their home and raised their family in Grand Island. Over the years Louise was employed several places beginning at Golden Point. She also worked for ITI Telemarketing Services, I-80 Holiday Inn, Skagway and Super Saver, from which she had just retired. An avid Bingo player, Louise had volunteered as a bingo caller at the Eagles Club and also played at the Vets Club. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren. She was known for her festive apparel on holidays. Those who will cherish her memory include her husband, Joe Burns Sr.; children and grandchildren, Jennifer (Blayne) Cooper and their children, Angel, Corby, Balente, David Jr., Patrick and Tamia of Grand Island; Marjorie (Randy Jr.) Bracha and their children, Mekia, Francisco, Summer, Autumn, Justus and Duke of Newton, KS; Tammy Burns (Enrique Alvarez) and their children, Adrian and Alejandra of Grand Island; Rebecca (Eric) Dunning and their children, Warren and Harmonie of Grand Island; Joe K. Burns Jr. (Tasha Hatcher) and their children, Tiah, Jadyen, Kaden, Luis, Noah, Tatiana and Bentley of Grand Island; Kitty Snell and Telly Snell of Lincoln; and Randa Lampman of Hastings. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Callie, Brayson and Mason, with another on the way; sister-in-law, Kathleen Burns; and nephews, Steven Burns and Jacob Sutherlin. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Alfred Nolte; sister, Jean Snell; parents-in-law, Joe E. and Marjorie Burns; and brothers-in-law, Billy and Carl.
