Bio
Robert Huey "Bill" Montgomery of Anna, Texas passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family. He was born October 13, 1921 in Powell, Texas to Joseph and Josie Montgomery. They moved to Anna Texas in the late 1930's when Bill was in his teens. Bill met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Faye Reno on April 23, 1945, and they raised their family in the Kelly Community. Bill farmed, raised cattle, and was known for training horses. They were faithful members of the Anna United Methodist Church. If you had the privilege to sit and drink a cup of coffee with Bill around his dining table, then you know he was a quiet man who spoke few words, but who had much life wisdom to pass on. If you were on the receiving end of his ribbing, or one line snarky comments, you knew you were loved. Family was everything to him. He and his siblings spoke and checked on each other almost every day, and made a priority to eat Sunday dinners with each other often. His grandchildren, and great grandchildren were his pride and joy, and if you waited too long between visits, he would let you know. He was a good and loyal friend to many, and will be dearly missed. Bill is survived by sons Michael Ray "Mike" of Anna, Larry Dale and wife Connie of Kelly, Thomas Earl "Tommy" of Dallas, sister Georgia Mosier of Anna, brother Joseph Kelly Jr and wife Evelyn of Mckinney, sister Johnnie Dee Fisher of McKinney, brother Kenneth Ray and wife Judy of McKinney, sister- in -law Imogene Montgomery of Ft Worth, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy Faye, parents Kelly and Josie, brothers Joe Edward and Arthur Felix "Pop" and sister in law Yvonne, brother-in-law Walter "C" Mosier, sister Maggie Genell Greer and brother-in-law Joe Greer, brother- in- law Joe Fisher, and daughter- in- law Lois Marie. Services will be held at 2:00PM Monday, September 27, 2021 at Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel with Kelly Montgomery, officiating. Burial will follow at the Alexander Cemetery, in Anna, TX. Randy Cook, Dan Cahill, BJ Koonce, Robby Powell, Lance Jones and Mo Mann, will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7:00PM to 8:00PM Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the funeral home.
