Bio

Franklin E. Moore, 73, he died on Nov. 30, 2007, at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb. He was born on Dec. 5, 1933, in Guernsey, the son of Earl and Beulah (Stevens) Moore. He grew up and attended school in Guernsey, graduating from Guernsey-Sunrise High School in 1951. He then worked for a short time with the railroad before enlisting in the US Army. He served in the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge, he returned to the Guernsey area where he worked at the iron ore mines in Sunrise. He married Juanita M. Lay on July 5, 1957, in Gering, Neb. The couple lived in Sunrise and Torrington for a short time. They divorced in 1961. He moved back to Guernsey where he continued to work at the mines. He married Peggy Huston on July 28, 1972, in Wheatland, and lived in Guernsey. He continued to work at the mines until he retired in the late 1970s. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He liked wood working projects and loved to dance. He found great pleasure in socializing and enjoyed coffee and chatting with his railroad buddies. He is survived by his wife, son, Ricky Moore and wife of Windsor, Colo.; daughters, Sharon Dunlap and husband of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kathleen Carroll and husband of San Antonio, Texas, Sue Garvie and husband of Torrington, and Teri Foster and husband of Torrington; sisters, Wanda Foote of Lusk and Bonnie Allen and husband of Ft. Laramie; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Cremation has taken place.
