Confederate. Company H, 33rd Infantry Regiment North Carolina. Wounded on 03 July 1863 at Gettysburg, PA. Died of wounds while POW. on 03 August 1863, at Camp Elder, West Chester, PA. Re-interred to Philadelphia National Cemetery. William N. Shoaf's name is on the Confederate Monument dedicated in 1911
